ANGLER'S CHOICE


JERRY WALKER AND BILL WALKER TAKE THE WIN!

The day started out with light winds and a 68 degree temperature, and quickly started climbing by 12:00. The temperature had reached 98 degrees but that did not keep Rend Lake bass from biting. This lake continues to put out big fish no mater what temperature Mother Nature throws at her. Good job guys!!!

First place team of Jerry Walker and Bill Walker reported they caught most of their fish on a spinner bait that Bill makes himself. They were fishing shallow on rip rap and main lake lay downs. The team had a total weight of 14.68 lbs earning them $1234.00 for the win and entering the option pot of $140.00, the team took home plaques and checks totaling $1374.00. The team’s sponsors are Ranger Boats, Dunn’s Sporting Goods and Walkers Restaurant in Zeigler.

The second place team of Jerry Bate and Brandon Bate reported they caught four of their five fish flipping bushes on the north end of the lake in shallow water in one foot or less. The fifth fish was caught on a lay down using a black and blue pig and jig. The team’s 11.22 lb stringer earned them $700.00 and entering the option pot worth $84.00, the team took home a total of $784.00 and plaques. The team’s sponsors are Mercury Outboards, Triton Boats, Harrisons Sports Shop, Zeigler out Door Feeds, Dunn’s Sporting Goods.

The third place team of Matt Swalls and Ron Robinson reported they caught four of the keepers flipping jigs and worms in three feet of water and one keeper on top water early. The team ended the day with a five fish limit weighing 10.65 lbs earning the team $403.00 and plagues. 

The team of Mike Goesman and Mike Anderson caught the big bass of the day on a black and blue Lunker Lure jig fishing wood in three to four feet of water on the south end of the lake. The team’s big bass weighed in at 6.38 lbs earning the team $250.00 plus $50.00 Hill Printing Big Bass bonus and entering the option pot the team earned a total of $356.00 plus big bass plague. The team is sponsored by Winn Nelson, Jeta Marine, Mercury Outboards and Goesman Construction.
